1837 Bed & Breakfast downtown Charleston, SC

Built in the early 1800s in the historic district of downtown Charleston, the main house is a three-story Federal-style single house accompanied by a two-story carriage/kitchen house. The main house has three guest rooms on each of the second and third floors. Rooms on these floors entail walking up one or two flights of stairs. NO ELEVATOR. Common rooms, such as the kitchen, dining room, and parlor are on the first floor. The carriage house has two individual rooms on the ground floor and a one bedroom suite on the second floor, which is up one flight of SPIRAL STAIRS.

These rooms will easily accommodate two people who do not wish to share a bed or a third person. There is a $30.00 per night charge for a third person.

Check-In and Check-Out

Check-In: 3:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Late check-in: We are happy to accommodate late check-ins. Please speak with our staff concerning late arrival. Detailed instructions will be contained in your confirmation.

Check-Out: 11:00 a.m.


Early coffee is available at 8:00 a.m.

Full plated breakfast is served from 8:30 – 9:30 a.m.

We serve a full and delicious plated breakfast every morning. Breakfast includes eggs, pork, fruit, home made breads, juices, coffee and tea. Please include all dietary restrictions in your reservation so we can accommodate you. (Example); lactose intolerant, diebetic, vegetarian, etc. As breakfast is made fresh everyday, we need at least 48 hours notice for dietary restrictions. We may not be able to accommodate dietary restrictions at the spur of the moment.


We have one parking space per room with seven (7) spaces onsite for small cars and two (2) spaces at a private residence 5 houses away from our Inn. Due to space limitations, we encourage all guests to bring SMALL cars if at all possible. Alternate parking options are street parking as well as a city parking garage (1 1/2 block away). Street parking is both metered and non metered. There is a daily charge for parking garages should it be necessary for you to use them due to the size your vehicle.
